Lip-syncing Research

I have looked into research into lip-syncing as this is something that we will need to do as when we show the band in our video we will have to have the person who is acting as the lead singer lip-sync the lyrics of the song.
From the research that I have done I can see that to make the lip-syncing effective in a video we must:
  • Play the music in the background when lip-syncing- This is so that the timing of the singing is matched so that it looks like the person lip-syncing as actually singing.
  • With this however the person lip-syncing must also memories the lyrics before they begin to lip-sync as this will make it look more realistic when they pretend to sing.
  • The music will be added properly later in the editing stage to make it sound as good as possible.
  • A way to ensure that the music is properly synced up with the video is to slow it down with the music so that we can ensure it is as realistic as possible.
Here are some examples of The Arctic Monkeys Lip-syncing in music videos:

The majority of perfecting the lip-syncing will be done in the editing stage of the project as this is where we will ensure that it is all matched up and correct. From the research which I have done I can see how lip-syncing is a common occurrence in almost all music video's across all genre's when they depict a person singing the song and therefore this research will be very useful. It will help us understand how to perfect lip-syncing within a music video.
